If you could pay as you go, how much would you pay per workout? What is it worth to you?
How does that compare to what you pay now?

Right now I pay $10 a month at Planet Fitness. Really nice gym with new equipment. I add another $10 a month for tanning (never go) but still thats about as cheap as you can get. This franchise is getting really big so check your area for one. :103631605

Wow. $10 a month is a steal. How do they compare to the national chains? Do they offer any amenities or is it bare bones?

Presto its a really good gym, much like a nice Golds. They have tanning, trainers, blended drinks, all the stuff a Golds would have. Really nice inside, new equipment and kept clean. Dont know how they get away with $10 a month but you can find them online. www.planetfitness.com search your area, good stuff.

$10 is cheap, You could never find that in Vancouver, even the Community centres charge $30. I am paying $40 a month and I think that is reasonable.
I go err I try to go 5 days a week so if it's costing me $2 a work out I think that's reasonable.

That's probably the sweet spot. For someone that goes 3-4 times a week and pays $30 a month, that would be about parity.

My guess is $2 for an average gym and $3 for above average is what most people would pay per workout.

Looks like a promising club. Like you said, how they get away with $10 a month is hard to comprehend. If they had one in my area, I would certainly give them a try.

A funny excerpt from their website:
"We discourage weight dropping and obnoxious grunting so you can focus on your own workout and not the person next to you."

Its a funny gym. It encourages regular people to go and tries not to attract the "meat heads" that you would find in a Golds. Some may disagree with that but I went to Golds for years and most guys are steroid junkies throwing weight. The equipment is the same, they just look for a different clientel there.
